In like a LION…
Thinking of this expression but in reverse, as our House of Healing “gospel in railing” has it, I am moved to ponder the awesomeness of HIS salvation plan for humanity.
This month we have seen God work in so many ways, with more people open to God’s love than ever before. To hear this is such a blessing to me personally.
We can now take a breath after hosting 3 teams in 3 weeks. We’ve generated lots of sweat from building things and walking “just up the hill” while carrying green lumber and countless cement blocks. Oh yes, and lots of soccer and playing with kids!
The teams also helped deal with serious medical needs. For example, little Maria was born without an external ear. Single mom Milder did not know if she had any internal ear parts and could not afford to have Maria checked out. Now we are on the way to finding out exactly how to help her and her family.
Leidy, 3 years old, can tell you her whole life’s story in kaqchikel (one of the Mayan languages) and baby talk. As she does, her mom lets you know something else. Leidy has heptablastoma, a childhood liver cancer. She had surgery but much remains to be seen. One of the teams paid for blood and urine exams and now we know how to work with her mom on diet and what to watch out for as she grows.
Many new relationships were formed with lots of laughter, smiles, hugs and tears.
…out like a lamb.
